Dr. Michael Dunegan grew up in a family of dentists. His father was a general dentist, and served as a wonderful and enthusiastic mentor for him. When Dr. Dunegan went through orthodontic treatment himself, he had a wonderful experience, and when he saw what a difference it made in his life, he decided he wanted to help others achieve a healthy and beautiful smile.

Dr. Dunegan is an honor graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown University School of Dentistry. He completed a general dentistry residency at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester NY and two full years of orthodontic specialty training at Georgetown. He is among the small percentage of orthodontists certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Dunegan was voted Top Orthodontist in the 2019 Best of Prince William publications and has been listed as a top doctor in Northern Virginia Magazine and Washingtonian. He maintains the Invisalign Diamond Plus Level Provider status, which is Invisalign’s highest level based upon the number of cases completed. Dr. Dunegan has completed two Invisalign Mastership classes and keeps current through membership in some Invisalign study clubs and continuing education programs

Dr. Dunegan completed the Leadership Prince William program and has supported many organizations over the years. He has volunteered at the Prince William and Fauquier County Free clinics, supported the Prince William Hospital Friends of the Foundation, and enjoys working on a bingo team at his Church, All Saints, in Manassas. He is also a past president of both the Northern Virginia Orthodontic Study Club and the Manassas Dental Society.

In his free time, Dr. Dunegan enjoys skiing, playing golf, and traveling. He is a big sports fan and follows the Steelers and Notre Dame closely. Dr. Dunegan met his wife, Patti, while doing his residency in Rochester, NY, and together they have 3 children and two dogs, Piper and Rosie.
