How Does It Work?
Invisalign Treatment Process
Invisalign works by using a series of retainer-like aligners to gradually move the teeth into the optimal position. Our team at Dunegan & Cole will create a custom treatment plan just for you.
A Custom Treatment Plan is Created Just for You
Our orthodontists will examine your mouth and jaw to determine if you are a candidate for Invisalign and show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of treatment.
Receive Your Custom Invisalign Aligners
Based on your treatment plan, a series of custom-made aligners are created specifically for you. These are 100% safe and made of a smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic that won’t irritate your cheeks and gums.
Wear a New Aligner Every 1-2 weeks
Each aligner is worn for 1-2 weeks, 20-22 hours per day, and only taken out to eat, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will begin to move gradually until your perfect smile is achieved.
Invisalign aligners are comfortable, low profile, custom-made clear plastic trays that most people don’t even know you are wearing. Here are some more of the great advantages of Invisalign.
Improved Oral Hygiene
Because Invisalign aligners are removable, you’ll be able to properly brush and floss during treatment and maintain optimum oral health.
Many adults and teens are self-conscious about wearing braces, but with Invisalign, no one will have to know you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment.
No Food Restrictions
Traditionally, wearing braces meant cutting back on your favorite crunchy, chewy foods. During treatment with Invisalign, you can remove your aligners, and still eat all your favorite foods. Just make sure you brush well afterwards!
Invisalign is made from a soft flexible material that won’t irritate your mouth and gums like traditional metal wires and brackets.
If you have a habit of grinding your teeth or clenching your jaw while you sleep, Invisalign can function as a thin night guard that helps protect your teeth from excessive wear.
